How to lay vinyl flooring? Types of installation systems

The installation systems for this type of flooring usually require a lot of work and sometimes it can even be very complicated, as they can be a little complex when it comes to installing them.

However, at L’Antic Colonial we have effortless installation systems: Drop Lock, Lock, Loose Lay and gluing system.

Below, we tell you how to lay vinyl flooring depending on the type of system that includes the slats of the chosen collection:

Drop Lock installation method

This system exerts a great pressure that allows the union between the slats to be reinforced, eliminating any gaps or gaps between them, thus reinforcing security and stability.

Its installation is easy and simple, in the blink of an eye you will have renovated spaces without the need for construction work.

In addition, other advantages of this system are that water cannot enter between the gaps, so it can be installed perfectly in wet areas such as the kitchen, bathroom or laundry room, among others.

How to install vinyl flooring with Drop Lock system: place the plank adjusting it to the plank already placed lengthwise, give a couple of light blows with a rubber hammer and it would be ready.

The method for uninstalling this type of flooring is just as easy and simple.

The collections of the Linkfloor range that include Drop Lock are: Linkfloor Branch and Linkfloor Rock.

Lock Installation Method

The Lock installation system works alike to the Drop Lock installation system except with some differences in the way it is installed.

Like the previous method, the pressure exerted by the planks eliminates gaps and prevents water from passing between them, perfect for installation in wet areas.

How to lay vinyl flooring with the Lock system: first slightly tilt the sheet, then adjust the plank with respect to the rest that are already in place and exert pressure on them for a few seconds.

The collections of the Linkfloor range that include Lock are: Linkfloor Contract, Linkfloor Eco, Linkfloor Empire, Linkfloor Hotel Air, Linkfloor Kingdom, Linkfloor Legend, Linkfloor Multiformat, Linkfloor Oak and Linkfloor Realm.

Loose Lay installation method

A simple and easy to install system and, in addition, the slats have a built-in anti-slip system that prevents them from sliding.

For installation you will need a double-sided adhesive tape or acrylic adhesive suitable for this type of flooring.

How to lay vinyl flooring with Loose Lay system: using the adhesive suitable for vinyl flooring to ensure its fastening, place the slats or tiles on the floor every 3 linear meters, you must fit the pieces together and, finally, press the piece for a few seconds, ready!

In addition, it allows the tiles to be lifted with a cute or a suction cup, so the pieces can be changed quickly. It is ideal for high-traffic spaces.

The Linkfloor range collections that include Loose Lay are: Linkfloor Authentic, Linkfloor Clinker, Linkfloor Grain, Linkfloor Mountain and Linkfloor Terra.

Glued installation method

The fourth installation system on this list is the glued installation method and, due to the reduced thickness of the slats, it requires a more demanding installation than the rest of the collections. However, it guarantees the stability of the product under the most demanding conditions.

In this case it will be necessary to apply adhesive during installation: Linkfloor Fix.

How to lay vinyl flooring with glue-down system: first glue the surface where the tiles are to be laid, then fit the plank lengthwise to the one that was already there and press lightly for a few seconds.

The Linkfloor range collections that include the gluing system are: Linkfloor Infinity (only suitable as wall covering), Linkfloor Leaf and Linkfloor Roll Contract.

Tips on how to install vinyl flooring

While vinyl flooring is easy to install, there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • It is advisable that the level of the surface where the tiles are to be laid is perfect.
  • Install the tiles from left to right.
  • Put the laminate floor in the same direction as the light of the room, this will make it gain amplitude.
  • Decide in which position the tiles will be laid before you start.
