PLEASE ALSO ADD YOUR REPORT TO FIREBALLS AOTEAROA:

Fireball Aotearoa is a collaboration between scientists at the Universities of Canterbury and Otago, and citizen scientists who operate meteor observation cameras across Aotearoa New Zealand. Their aim is to recover freshly-fallen meteorites following fireball events. Simply go here to do this:  https://fireballs.nz/about/

I just saw while getting the cows in to milk in northland nz and I saw something enter the atmosphere and had a shower of sparks behind it before it burnt up and disappeared

At 1930 hours this evening from Brougham Street, Mt Victoria I was watching an aircraft which was heading to Auckland having just departed Wellington Airport.
While I was doing so I observed a small rapidly moving meteor heading approximately toward the Northeast.

The sky was quite cloudy so it was quite surprising to see the meteor.

My husband yelled out, hey Mel see that, it was amazing. A bright light, looked like a fire ball, moving very fast through the clouds for a few good seconds, then disappeared, our mate saw the end of it also.

We were at a mate birthday party in Taradale.

Between 6:15am-6:20am me and my boss in otaki saw what looked to be a moving blue glowing trail which was moving quite quickly, had a dim blue glow to it. Was heading towards the Wairarapa was either a meteor and or fireball but as it was a bit light in the direction it was heading in couldn’t get the full beautiful viewing. Cool to see and sure others saw it

On Saturday morning between 5 and 6am 18th of May saw a large fireball with tail while getting the cows in for milking in Greytown Wairarapa coming straight down in a west slightly south direction. First time seeing something like it was about as wide as my finger held out in front of me.

Hi last night 21 May 2024. Walking the dog on Egnot Heights Redcliffs Christchurch I saw a bright blue light at 5.30 as I looked over Christchurch to the east. It was in a clear space in the clouds. I could not believe my eyes. As we have been Aroura watching lately this was a totally different colour almost turquoise blue. Never seen anything like this before. Was it a search light in Christchurch or a meteorite. Sorry I did not get a photo. Janet

I saw a wide and huge shooting star or meteor at 4:40 am. I have seen plenty of shooting stars but this was huge, fast, and very bright.
