what are the chances of it being a cold winter down south this year? Based off what weβve had so far it would make sense. Hoping for a snowy one down south (Dunedin/invercargill) which we havenβt had since 2010/11

Hi Phil and team, I wanted to ask if the rain will come this winter? At least here in the central North Island, weβve had just a few days of rain. They were pretty big, but apart from that, itβs been sunny and cool. I do like sunny summers, but I also like rainy winters. So, will rain be more frequent later on this winter?

Hi John, weβre not big fans of long range forecasting beyond a month, itβs notoriously inaccurate for our part of the world (due to the chaotic weather pattern this far south). Our next ClimateWatch monthly outlook is out on Friday afternoon May 31st and weβll be looking to see if the powerful highs in Australia that are limiting rain here in NZ will finally break up or not. NZβs dry weather has been mostly due to the stubborn and large highs parked near Tasmania. So hopefully we will see more wet weather coming into NZ this winter but itβs not a clear path towards that shift.

Hi WW team
I donβt know if anyone has posted about this, but as I type this, the Time/Date on your webpage is showing 12:50pm 22 May when this post is written at 6:36AM 23 May.
This issue has been going on now since 18 May. I run Firefox (up-to-date) on a Samsung phone. Iβve run all the tests incl cache, et al purges. Nothing working RE: bringing Time/Date back in sync. All other website are OK.
I hope there is a fix on your end.
Cheers
Kat

Just normal late Autumn snowfall on the South Island ranges mainly⦠perhaps some on the North Island mountains. Just a SW change that looks cold in the lower South Island in particular.
