We have a warmer than average day across much of New Zealand today but have the temperatures in recent weeks been enough for you to start cranking up the air conditioning at home, in the car or in the office? 

Of course not everyone has air-con, many do not have it – but it is increasingly becoming part of New Zealand homes and businesses thanks to heat pumps.

November had up and down temperatures. Quite a few warmer than normal days but also a number of cooler than average nights. Some days weren’t too flash either, like last week in Canterbury and Wellington which had plenty of cloud and lower temperatures. In saying that, we’ve had a few 30 degree days in the mix and many mid to late 20 degree days too.

Now that December is here temperatures will continue to steadily climb. So is the heat affecting you already? Or is it far too early to be thinking about air-con?
